Job Description & Requirements:

Indoor Tennis Centre is accepting applications for the position of Club Pro/Manager. 

Part-Time:  10 hours per week @ $20/hr for administrative work and a minimum of 10 hours per week @ $24 hr when instructing (rates subject to review and hours of work can be increased as the Club’s instructional program expands)

Working under the general direction of the Board of the Tennis Club as represented by the Club President, the Club Pro/Manager is responsible for leading tennis programs and membership services for a not-for-profit recreational tennis club. 

Specifically the Club Pro/Manager is responsible to:

  • Build relationships with Club Members, ensure positive customer and player experiences, promote active league play and provide regular communications. 
  • Develop and schedule instructional and skills development programs, using business case analysis for new program development. 
  • Lead by coaching with integrity, ensuring the physical and social safety of all participants, and creating a respectful environment that honours the sport of tennis.
  • Provide, or assign instructors to teach, private, semi-private and group lessons. Provide suggestions to students and new members as to appropriate levels and groups for league and personal playing time.
  • Provide and oversee customer service, and administrative services related to the issuance and renewal of memberships, booking and payment of courts and instructional time, and general club operations.
  • Supervise, schedule and direct instructional and front desk staff, ensuring that programs and services are provided to members in accordance with Club policies and goals.  Maintains employment related records in compliance with policy and legislation.
  • Serves as the staff lead for the Chelsea Online Court Reservation System/Point of Sale System.  Monitor and manage Club inventory and supplies.
  • Lead the Club’s social media presence with an emphasis on growing instructional programs, tennis leagues and recreational play and promoting Club activities.
  • Respond to member inquiries/complaints and escalate to the Board as required.
  • Direct staff in the reconciliation of financial transactions and preparation of bank deposits.  Approve invoices for payment by the Club’s bookkeeper.
  • Co-ordinates with the Operations Supervisor to ensure Courts and Clubhouse are maintained in support of safe tennis programs and positive member experiences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Abilities:

  • Adhere at all times to National Coaching Certification Program Code of Ethics as found on the Tennis Canada website http://www.tpacanada.com/coaching-in-canada/becoming-a-coach/code-of-ethics.
  • Act as tennis advisor to the Board, providing advice and recommendations on all tennis programming at the club.
  • Communicate theoretical and practical components of tennis to all age groups and playing levels and promote the sport of tennis in the community.
  • Ability to assess and prepare individual written learning plans for identified high potential and competitive players and to set personal player goals for all private and semi-private lesson participants.  Comfortable conducting semi-annual parent/player meetings for identified junior program participants.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to produce business case analysis of tennis programs to ensure the continued development and viability of the Club.
  • Strong conflict resolution and customer service skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Tennis Canada Club Pro 1 or higher (or equivalent).
  • College diploma in a related field, with at least three years of directly related experience OR at least five years of directly related experience.
  • A satisfactory vulnerable sector Police Check to be updated every two years while employed by the club.
