Job Description & Requirements:

To provide members and non-members an opportunity to learn, improve and enjoy the fame of tennis by providing professional instruction to individuals and groups of all ages and ability levels. Ensure a positive learning experience for every student. Exhibit high energy, enthusiasm and a love of the game when teaching. To get and keep members involved in tennis programming and activities, and to build an active client base with return business and referrals. To assist the Tennis Director in the overall coordination of the club’s tennis program, as requested.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
·          Teach lessons, camps, clinics, practices, new member orientations, NTRP ratings, etc. as scheduled, following curriculums, lesson plans and teaching protocols as applicable
·          Build and maintain an active schedule of private lessons, scheduling lesson times directly with students
·         Be ready to go on and off court exactly on time
·          Ensure that all lesson balls and equipment are cleared from the court after each lesson
·          Follow club court reservation policies when booking lessons
·          Work closely with Tennis Desk staff to ensure proper payment is made for all lessons and clinics
·          Be alert and attentive to students throughout class; use names often
·          Ensure that students comply with all tennis etiquette guidelines and court policies
·         Be knowledgeable and comfortable in using all teaching aids and props; ensure that all equipment and supplies are properly stored after usage
·         Evaluate and record each student’s progress
·         For children, communicate progress to parents with recommendations for future class placement. Complete and present “report cards” to children at end of session
·         Continually strive to broaden knowledge base in teaching, racquets, equipment, training, drills, etc.
·         Attain and maintain a USPTA certification
·         Structure lessons so that hitting and playing time is maximized and time spent talking or picking up balls is minimized. Design and use drills that keep students active, involved and moving
·         Be courteous to all tennis members and players on the courts before, during and after tennis lessons
·          Promote the club’s full menu of tennis programs to all students
·         Assist the Tennis Director with designed, promoting and conducting tennis special events such as tournaments, leagues and socials, as requested
·          Complete all required administrative work and telephone work by requested deadlines
·          Report any tennis court or equipment problems or needs to the Tennis D­irector
·         Participate in ongoing instructor training provided by the club
·         Other responsibilities or projects as assigned by the Tennis Director
 
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidate with or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to:
·         Write, speak, read, hear and see
·         Demonstrate each tennis stroke and skill proficiently
·         Pass USPTA certification test
·         Maintain an NTRP rating of 4.5 (minimum)
·         Stand for prolonged periods
·         Walk, run, bend, twist, and move sideways: actions involved in playing tennis
·         Work outdoors and exposed to sun and other weather conditions for prolonged periods
·         Set-up and take-down or light equipment
·         Project voice across a tennis court, on a sustained basis
·         Lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
